Important Precautions and Interactions:

Discuss your medical history with your doctor, particularly if you have serious liver disease, a history of alcohol or narcotic dependence, emotional or mental health conditions, heart disease (arrhythmias, recent myocardial infarction), stomach or intestinal ulcers, or any allergies. Acetaminophen, a component of Fioricet, can cause liver damage. The risk of liver damage increases if you consume alcohol daily, particularly when combined with acetaminophen.

To prevent oversedation, avoid using alcohol and other sedative-type medications while taking Fioricet. This drug can cause dizziness or drowsiness; exercise caution when driving or operating machinery. Since this medication contains caffeine, limit intake of additional caffeinated beverages to avoid excessive nervousness and irritability. Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and note that small amounts of this medication appear in breast milk; consult your doctor before breastfeeding.

Medication Interactions:

Inform your doctor about all medications you use, especially blood thinners and those causing drowsiness such as sleep medicines, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs, narcotic pain relievers, psychiatric medicines, anti-seizure drugs, muscle relaxants, and certain antihistamines. Also, check with your healthcare provider before taking other medications containing acetaminophen, commonly found in over-the-counter pain relievers and cold products, to avoid overdose. This medication may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills; discuss alternative birth control methods with your doctor.
